Sign in to QuickBooks Desktop in single-user mode.
Open the Connex install wizard, choose QuickBooks Desktop, and download a pairing file.
Give authorization to the web connector file by choosing "Yes, always: allow access even if QuickBooks is not running".
In the web connector, select the Connex application in File → App Management → Update Web Services.
